I was born in Chicago and grew up in Back of the Yards neighborhood. I am a son of immigrants. My father’s highest level of education was 3rd grade and my mother's was 5th grade. They believed in giving us the best education; one they didn't obtain. We are Catholic and all went to Catholic elementary and high school. I was also an altar boy in our local parish. Many Catholics school closed including the one I attended. My senior year I attended Thomas Kelly HS and it was a blessing in disguise. It gave me the opportunity to apply some of the Chemistry lessons at the collegiate level. I have lived in BOTY(Back of the Yards) for over 25 years. I moved out my senior year of college. I graduated from UIC with a degree in Computer Engineering.
I am proud to call myself a family man. My wife Michelle and I have two beautiful children. My oldest Maya is enrolled in first grade at a CPS school. My son Mateo is starting preschool in the fall. I believe in family first and supporting my children’s education is a top priority. It is one of the reasons why I am running; to better fund our public education by restructuring or reforming TIF. When TIF came out, it was a noble idea. However, it is no longer working. It is no longer being used to fix blight areas. And time has shown that TIF has been stealing money from our schools. This is one of my first actions I will do as your alderman.
Reform TIF or abolish it completely.
I am running for the 28th Ward because I believe that I can make a difference. I believe I can help make an impact on the residents of the 28th ward by building a community that we all can be proud of. I believe that I can restore the power back to the citizen of Chicago. I will not be taking money from Corporate PAC, Big Developers, Dark Money, nor the establishment. I will be an alderman for and by the people. Thank you for your support and let’s make a change together.
